My favorite time of year comes in November. Why, you ask? Because first off, it’s my birthday month and secondly because my favorite holiday is in this month. I absolutely love Thanksgiving. What do I love about Thanksgiving? Well, to be totally honest, I am definitely not celebrating the pilgrims or how they treated Native Americans. That has no part of my celebration…at all. What I am celebrating is my family, friends and loved ones in general. I am so thankful to have all of these wonderful people in my life. Being that life often gets in the way, we don’t get to see each other as much as we’d like. Thanksgiving allows us to designate time specifically for getting together and celebrating.
I can’t talk about Thanksgiving without talking about the food. THE. FOOD! I am a person who loves wonderful food and at Thanksgiving, that’s exactly what you will get. Being married means that there are often compromises. One of those compromises is where we will eat Thanksgiving dinner. Both my husband and I have family here, so we go to a different family member’s house each year. Last year it was his cousin’s house and this year it will be my mom’s house. My husband is very practical about where he wants to eat. It depends on who is cooking, where it will be, and where we went the previous year. How do those of you decide where to go for Thanksgiving? We’ve been married 20 years and have hosted Thanksgiving about 2 or 3 times. I’m pretty sure we’ll host it again but it won’t be this year.
As for my birthday, not sure if I will do anything particularly special this year. My 50th was so much fun. Fifty-two just doesn’t seem all that special. I’m glad that I’m here to celebrate it, just not too pressed to go out of my way to celebrate it. It’s on a Sunday, so I’ll already be off from work. Hopefully, I’ll actually be able to relax. Maybe my husband will cook or take me out. Who knows? No matter what, I’ll be content that I’m alive, healthy and hanging with my two most favorite people. If you have any ideas as to what you think I should do, I’d love to read about it.

I am having a Thanksgiving eve gathering and I’m cooking. I feel your husband. Don’t care for potlucks or food from questionable folks.
P.S. Your website is fab! Wish I was near-you have mad skills
Thank you so much, Karen. I always appreciate the fact that you read my blog & especially that you provide commentary. Much luck to you on hosting a Thanksgiving eve gathering. As for potlucks, we’re both leery about them, but this is my family. No one outside of the family will be bringing anything. lol. Thanks so much for your compliment on my website. I do what I can but it’s not all me. Templates help a great deal! Thanks again!
