As I mentioned in a previous post, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. My celebration has nothing to do with pilgrims but everything to do with my family and the food, of course. To me, Thanksgiving means giving thanks for all of the wonderful people in your life, not some sugar-coated history lesson. Even though I have family here, we don’t get to see each other that often. We all have our own lives and own families. Life tends to get in the way and we just don’t get/take the opportunity to talk or get together. That’s also the same reason why three of my sisters and our cousin meet up once a month for our Sunday brunch. We got tired of our family only getting together for funerals, so we decided to change that. I will say that we did get together last year for two weddings. My nephew and his sister got married, but not to each other. I’m sure you already figured that out but I didn’t want to take any chances.
I just love November. The weather is usually pretty mild and of course, this is my birthday month. The changing leaves on the trees are stunning and I get to wear my leggings and sweaters. It’s funny but I hate cold weather but I love cold weather clothes. Go figure. Anyway, I have so much to be thankful for. Of course, I’m thankful for my family, which includes my loving husband of 20 years and my fantastic son of 14 years. Both of my parents and all of my siblings are still living and that’s definitely a blessing. We are all healthy, even though my dad had a health scare recently. Don’t worry, he’s doing quite well right now. An additional blessing that I have is that I get to do what I love for a living. Capturing memories for people is one of the best things in the world. I love making people smile and laugh (genuinely) and sometimes making them cry (happy tears). There’s nothing like it. I’ve always said that my purpose is to brighten peoples’ day/lives. I’m a natural-born cheerleader. That’s who I am. I want to see everyone win. Okay, if I’m being totally honest, I don’t want everyone to win. Those who cheat, lie or steal shouldn’t be allowed to win. They need to be shut down and pushed to the back. I want those who work hard, are honest and deserve it, to win. It would be awesome if his world were a just place and if life was fair, but neither is true. Perhaps one day. Until then, I will continue to enjoy November, enjoy my life and keep cheering for those who deserve it.
So, what are you thankful for?
