This past Saturday I had the pleasure of reconnecting with a past client of mine. I originally photographed her maternity session. That session was like photographing two models and I just loved it! You can see a sample below:
As you can see, they are a beautiful couple and now have a beautiful daughter. Even though I haven’t seen her in person for a while, I have been able to follow her on Facebook and Instagram. She is actually quite entertaining, especially when she’s fussing about something going on. I’ve also gotten to see her daughter grow and that’s my favorite part! Anyway, she has started a new endeavor that has become her passion. Her new passion is acting. As far as I can tell, she has been in one stage play and is currently working on another one.
She decided to give it a try and now she loves it! I won’t divulge her age, but let’s just say she’s not in her 20s. Regardless, she is an excellent reminder that it is never too late to follow your dreams or find a new passion to pursue. Since she is working to be an actress, she knew she needed some updated headshots. I happily obliged and met her at her home. It was like a reunion. I saw Brian, her husband and finally got to meet her adorable daughter, Makiah whom she affectionately calls, Boogs.
It was a quick session. She had two outfits. One was a blush pink outfit and the other was black. After the session, I showed her the images I captured and let her pick the ones that she was purchasing. Funny thing is that she didn’t like any of the ones in the pink outfit. However, I did like some of them but that’s just me. We as women, are often harder on ourselves than other people. Below are two of the images with the pink.
I thought she looked sweet but she didn’t like them. She told me that she realized that she was trying to come off as soft but that’s just not her. I understand what she means. Oftentimes you can tell what is or isn’t you. Anyone who doesn’t know her wouldn’t know that she’s not necessarily a “soft” kind of woman. It appeared to me that she pulled it off well but maybe because she’s a good actress. She said tihs session taught her what her good angles are, which is her best side and what looks work for her. I’m glad I could help her with that. Here are two of the images that she did select because they are more like her.
Even though she is funny and good-natured, I guess I wouldn’t consider her soft. Perhaps the best way to describe her is to say she’s a badass woman. She knows what she wants and is not afraid to go after it and I admire that about her. She’s also a good and caring person but that still doesn’t make her soft. I would wish her luck in her acting endeavors but I won’t because I know she doesn’t need it. She’s taking classes and continuing to hone her craft on stage and rehearsals. I’m really happy for her and for anyone who finds their passion to pursue, no matter their age.

Interesting… the pink ones popped to me way more than black. But as you illustrated in the post, perspective makes all the difference.
Never too old. Agreed.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post & to comment. Yes, perspective makes all the difference.
