We are currently in the middle of spring break and I feel that it has already gone by too quickly. My son thinks that he was the only one looking forward to it but I’m here to say, he was not. I, like many parents and teachers, was looking forward to no school. Currently, my son is still attending school virtually. Yes, they have a hybrid model going on where the children are in school twice a week. We just weren’t ready when they had them go back. He’s still not ready but I certainly am.
My son is probably a lot like some of you all’s children. He’s a great kid but he is not necessarily doing his best, nor is he really enamored with school. This, in turn, causes me to have to stress to get him and keep him on track. I often feel like I, too, am trying to pass the tenth grade again and I don’t like it. As I’ve told him many times before, I’ve already graduated from high school and do not plan on going back. During this time, I have been able to focus on my business more and less on his schoolwork. We have spent a bit of time together too, which I do like. He’s a really funny person. I guess I feel that way because he and I seem to have a similar sense of humor. I’m not sure if that means I have the humor of a teenage boy or he has the humor of an adult. Either way, we pretty much laugh at the same things.
During this break, one of my favorite parts (which of course is second to spending time with my son) is the fact that I get to sleep in. My business does not open until 10:00 a.m. and I take full advantage of that. Luckily, my office is in my house and all I have to do is walk downstairs to my desk. Having your own business definitely has its perks. Funny thing is, my son also likes to sleep in, even more than I do. In fact, if I don’t wake him up there is no telling how long he will sleep.
I know people have probably already made plans as to what they are going to do during the break but this is also a good time for portraits. I mean, what else are you doing if you have no plans? The children don’t have school and you might even have time off. Why not have portraits made while you have all this free time because you know how crazy life will be after school resumes. We would have liked to have gone somewhere on the break but we’re still not feeling that comfortable during this pandemic. Maybe by summer, we will have some plans and I will take some real time off. Until then, I’ll be hanging out with my son when I’m not working in my office planning for the next fantastic session. Just click here to schedule a consultation. At this point, I don’t think I will be able to fit you in for a session this week but there are many weeks in the year that we can schedule.
