Every year I offer holiday cards for the season. Well, I actually offer greeting cards/announcements/invitations all year round, they just really get highlighted around Christmas time. Some families make it a yearly thing, like my clients the Gastons. I have been photographing this family of five since they were a family of four. That has been about 10 years and a great 10 years it has been.
Every year like clockwork, I have the honor of creating their annual holiday cards. Each time, I try to make sure that Belinda schedules the session in a timely fashion so that she doesn’t have to rush sending the cards out. One year, her schedule was so jam-packed that we had a difficult time finding a date. By the time we had the session, we knew that she wouldn’t have enough time to send out Christmas cards. So, that year I designed New Year’s cards instead.
The two challenges we always have are picking the color scheme and the location. This year’s color scheme was burgundy and gray. By the way, I do often help with picking the colors for my clients. It’s just a special talent that I have. As for locations, sometimes my clients pick the location or make suggestions. Other times, I will pick the location or provide suggestions. You know, whatever works.
Whenever I photograph this family, the session is always fun and full of energy. When I photograph outside, we usually walk around until a particular location catches my eye. This particular park which was Freeman’s Mill Park, had plenty of interesting and picturesque sights. Luckily, it was a beautiful day, a little chilly but nothing we couldn’t deal with.
Below are a few images from the session.
