Well, thanks for coming to read more about me! I'm quite flattered! As I mentioned before, I am a mother of a teen (pray for me) and a wife of almost 25 years.
My journey to photography is probably like many other photographers. I was given a camera as a Christmas gift when I was about 10 or 11 and haven't been able to put it down since. For the longest time, photography was just a hobby because when I was growing up, being a photographer was not mentioned as a viable option. So, I graduated from high school and then college, with a degree in computer information systems. I enjoyed that life for while, until I didn't. That's when I decided to embark on a different journey to do something I loved and get paid for it and that is how PhoArtgraphy was born.
As a photographer, we are usually asked to find a niche to specialize in. Finding mine was quite easy. It has always been children. I wanted to be a child photographer before I knew I wanted to be one. I used to photograph my little sisters all the time. I would have them pose for me and sometimes dress them. To this day, I still do that just not with my sisters. They're grown and they would rather dress themselves.
The reason I photograph children is because I know what a wonderful gift it is to be able to look back at the time before now to see how much we've changed and grown. My mother has a few photo walls in her house decorated with images of all seven of her children. I love looking at that wall. I think everyone should have a wall like that with cherished memories.
Fun facts about me: I have eight siblings and only two of them are male. I love cheesecake more than anyone should, along with sushi but not necessarily at the same time. In 2019, I published my first book entitled, "If God Gave It To Me, It Must Be Good" about natural hair. One last thing, I graduated from elementary school twice and have a degree in Computer Information Systems. Yeah, I know....it's a long way from photography.
